Remember the days of Olan Mills family photos where hands were placed tenderly on shoulders and everyone smiled endearingly at the photographer? That image turned me off completely to formal photo sessions once I had my own family. Recently, a friend of mine who is a photographer shot some amazing photos of us, and those were the first “family photos” we’ve ever had.
But times are a changing, my friends. I’m very excited to announce the grand opening of a modern, upscale photo studio in Asheville. The Portrait Studio is opening on January 27, 2016 and will be located at 1833 Hendersonville Rd. They will be offering grand opening discounts which I will describe in more detail in the coming weeks.
While The Portrait Studio is upscale and trendy, they offer clients affordable prices so it’s feasible for everyday families. If you are a mom like me, you want fun and funky family photos but always have the family budget swirling around in your mind.
Sometimes things such as a family photos session seem like a luxury, but The Portrait Studio’s goal is to decrease that worry by offering reasonable rates while beautifully capturing special phases and stages of a family’s life. In fact, their target clients are parents between the ages of 20 and 45 who seek high-quality photos and an amazing experience.
Along with family photos, The Portrait Studio specializes in photographing occasions such as engagements, graduations, birthdays, holiday photos and more. They also love to work with grandparents who enjoy capturing special moments in their grandchild’s life.
The Portrait Studio’s mission is three-fold, to be professional, personalized and fun! Their goal is to become part of the Asheville community and to really know their clients by offering excellent photography in a warm, boutique setting.
Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks. Be sure to follow The Portrait Studio on Facebook. Also, I will be posting again before the grand opening and then participating in a photo shoot with my family. I look forward to telling you all about that.
Say good-bye to cheesy, outdated family portraits and hello to The Portrait Studio.

I’m so excited about this new place! We’ve had family photos shot fairly frequently, but it is getting really expensive (and with a kid who doesn’t love to cooperate, it can be a hassle.)
