We’re currently on vacation in Disney World! I’ve been planning this trip for six months, and two little boys have been counting down the days since Christmas so yes, we have all been super excited. And now that we’re here, everything has met or exceeded our expectations. I never thought of myself as a “Disney person”, but as they say, people can change.
It’s obviously fun to go on a big road trip, but we’re always kind of sad to leave the dogs. They are being boarded at our favorite kennel this week. Knowing they’re in a good place and they’re together makes it better, but we still feel kind of bad. Luckily, right before we left, a package was brought to our front door from chewy.com. I’d ordered the doggies a slew of treats from Rachael Ray’s new line called Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Treats.
Our eight-year old had a ball with the dogs when the treats arrived. He spent a nice chunk of time training our bigger dog, and I must say, he is quite the little dog trainer. We’ve had some issues lately with her snapping at other dogs while walking at the lake, so we’re going to work on her social behavior with our new batch of treats. She’s obviously a fan of them. Later in the post, I offer some tips we learned in dog training class and that seem to be working with our dogs as we train at home.
If you ever watch Rachael Ray’s show, you know she is a lover and advocate for animals. Through her Nutrish brand, she’s been creating super-premium dog food and treats since 2007. Her recipes are made with simple, whole-ingredient recipes and do not contain poultry by-product meal or fillers. Her food and treats are based on her original recipes she’s shared with humans for many years. I love the titles of her treats and the play on words, such as Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Deli Cuts, Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Meatloaf Morsels, Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Pawsta, Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Savory Roasters, and Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Burger Bites.
Also, if you’re a cat person, you should know that Rachael expanded the brand in 2014 to include cat food and treats. Real U.S. farm-raised beef or chicken is always the #1 ingredient in Nutrish products. Along with containing no artificial flavors or meat by-products, the products contain no corn or wheat and are safely USA cooked with the world’s best ingredients.
You can find them in all of your major retailers. I purchased mine on chewy.com which is a great online retailer for dog and cat food and treats, especially when you’re an insanely busy mom who often forgets grocery items like milk and coffee, much less dog treats. It’s just my reality, so I love online options that allow me to order when I think of it.
As I said earlier, I want to offer a few tips for using treats to train dogs. Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Treats are intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only. Please watch your dog to ensure Nutrish treats are thoroughly chewed before swallowing. Break into small pieces for smaller dogs.
5 dog training tips
1). Be consistent
2). Practice every day
3). Know your dog
4). Be generous with affection
5). Help your dog understand the word if you need to (gently pat down their back end if they don’t understand what “sit” means, then reward when they achieve any part of the command; gradually increase the amount of time between achieving the command and giving the treat so your dog learns to sit for as long as you need
With Rachael’s heart being so big for animals, she created Rachael’s Rescue® for all of the forgotten pets, the ones who may have no home or loved ones. A portion of proceeds from each sale of Nutrish is donated to The Rachael Ray Foundation, which helps animals in need through Rachael’s Rescue. Throughout 2016, Rachael’s Rescue donated more than $14 million to pet charities and other organizations that do good for animals. Funds are used for a variety of things, such as food, medical supplies, vaccines, treatments, and more.
My boys loved hearing this fact about helping dogs in need. It feels great to know that purchasing this brand not only makes the dogs in our own home happy but helps thousands of animals around the country. And as much fun as we’re having in Disney World, we’re excited to get home and see the dogs and give them a few treats for being a good boy and girl. Make a difference in the lives of your own pets and animals everywhere by trying out Rachael Ray™ Nutrish® Treats. I think both you and your fur babies will be very impressed.
Use this coupon to g$1.50 off. You can print it twice and use it anytime this year. Lastly, be sure to stay connected with the brand on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Enjoy!
