How’s everyone doing? Can you believe Christmas is in three days. Eeek! It sure did sneak up on me this year, but I guess I’m as ready as I’ll ever be. It’s the first one without my mom, so things will be much different this year. Two sweet little boys have really helped propel me forward through the motions of the holiday season.
We attended a really fun, festive ugly Christmas sweater party this week. We were each asked to bring an appetizer or dessert. I have a few go-to dishes I take to every party, so I decided to branch out and make something new.
I’ve been working with Klement’s Sausage company this fall as a brand ambassador, and I had some Polish sausage I wanted to use. Meat and cheeses are always popular at holiday parties, so I was hoping both kids and adults would enjoy this app.
I came up with this quick and easy yet delicious recipe which took no time at all and only involves four ingredients and a slow cooker. It was a hit at the party and in fact, I should have doubled the recipe because my slow cooker was empty before everyone got a plate of food.
I made another batch the following day so the boys could eat it for lunch with macaroni and cheese and apple sauce. Our family could live off bite-size food. As opposed to a big meal at the table every night, sometimes we like to eat snacks and appetizers off the coffee table while watching a movie. This dish will be perfect for that. Further, if I put anything on a toothpick, the boys are more likely to eat it. I’m not sure why that makes food so exciting, but I’m using it to my advantage as long as possible.
Below is the recipe for a great app that’s a hit with party goers of all ages.
Ingredients
- 1 package Klement's Polish sausage
- 1 packet dry Ranch mix
- 18 oz (or one bottle) of homemade or your preferred brand of barbecue sausage
- 1/2 cup local honey
Instructions
- Slice the sausage into circular bite-sized piieces
- Lay in bottom of slow cooker
- Whisk the other three ingredients together in a bowl
- Pour the sauce over the sausage
- Stir to blend the sauce and sausage together
- Turn the slow cooker on high and cook for an hour
- Serve straight from the slower cooker or transfer to a plate and use toothpicks to create bite-sized pieces
That’s it, friends! It’s truly as easy and can be. And oh, so scrumptious.
Throughout my time working with Klement’s, I’ve come to admire the company’s history and mission. Klement’s is a family-founded business that began in 1956. Through three generations of artisan sausage makers, Klement’s has grown from a small sausage kitchen in Wisconsin to one of the largest producers of fine, Old World sausage products. Their Polish sausage added just the right amount of flavor to this recipe.
If you have another holiday party coming up or a New Year’s Eve function, I recommend making this appetizer, but be sure to double if you’re serving five or more people. It’s also great to make at home with the family and pair with a couple of sides or other hor d’oeuvres. Merry Christmas!
P.S. I made up the term “PolSa.” It’s short for Polish Sausage. Enjoy!
