Happy Friday, everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted, and I miss you guys. One or both of the boys have been home these past two weeks before the start of school, so I’ve had to find pockets of time here and there to work. I really wanted to enjoy them before the new school year and be on the computer as little as possible. Nevertheless, I was determined to find some time to hop on here and share a little about this past week. It’s been a huge week for the both boys and because of that, I’ve been in full-blown mom mode. Below are a few highlights.
5 thoughts from the week:
1). With Brooks starting third grade and Case starting kindergarten, I’ve been really nostalgic and sentimental this week. Time really does fly and that adage seems more and more poignant as the boys get another year older. Also, I’ve missed my mom a lot, really wanting her here for these milestone moments in the boys’ lives.
2). I’ve finally back into a groove of working out, and it feels utterly amazing. I’ve been running, swimming and doing some interval training workouts. They all feel amazing, but I’m really loving swimming. There’s something so relaxing and peaceful about being in the water. Also, I’ve never been a swimmer, so it’s a new challenge for me to improve my stroke and breathing.
3). I’m going back to work full-time. The details are still being finalized so I’m not sharing on the blog yet, but I will soon! It’s in the field of writing and online marketing, so I am very excited about that. I’m hopeful by my next Friday 5 post I can share more.
4). Yesterday, I was thinking about the fact that I’ll be thirty-eight years old in October. I’m so close to forty! Most people say the big 4-0 doesn’t feel any different but we’ll see.
5). Fall is already in the air. I heard the high school band practicing yesterday, scarecrows are out at Michaels, and the big Halloween tent is already in the parking lot of the mall. Sometimes I feel like the holiday stuff pops up too soon; however, I’m thrilled for fall to be on the horizon. It’s my favorite season of the year.
5 photos from the week:
1). Two friends and I had a solar eclipse party for all of our kiddos. It was super fun. We had to be careful about the kids looking up without their glasses on but other than that, it was a huge success. We especially had a blast making solar eclipse-themed snacks.
2). I can’t believe Brooks is in third grade. Third grade seems so much older than second grade. He’s so ready for it, but I’m not sure I am!
3). In our school system, kindergartners start a week later than the older students, so Case doesn’t start until next Tuesday. But this week he had his classroom visit. It was crazy to see him in the elementary school. He’s so excited but I have to admit, it’s going to be hard for me next week when my baby walks into that big school.
4). The new swim season started back up this week. After a successful year last year, Brooks is really excited, as am I. I’ve really gotten into being a swim mom. We’re looking forward to his first meet at the end of September.
5). Case and I enjoyed a week of bonding. With him home for one more week after Brooks started school, we frolicked about together. Whether shoe shopping, making slime, taking silly selfies, going out to lunch or just playing at the house, it’s certainly been a special week for him and me.
It’s been a full week of parenting and while it’s felt crazy at times, I’ve enjoyed it so much. I feel beyond blessed to be the mom of these two amazing boys. I could not be prouder of them or love then anymore. I hope you’ve had a great week as well. The weekend is here! What are you and yours up to? I hope you have some fun stuff planned and can find at least a few minutes to kick back and enjoy.
