Friday 5: Beach Fun, Childhood Ups & Downs, and Beautiful Baby Girl

5 Thoughts From the Week

1. I’ve really enjoyed morning runs this summer. Our school-year schedule just doesn’t support me running in the morning, so I end up working out in the afternoon when I’m exhausted. I will certainly miss running in the cool air when I’m at my full stamina.

2. I can’t believe how quickly the new school year is approaching. Every store ad and commercial is already talking ‘Back-to-School’. Where did this summer go?

3. We’re at the beach right now, and it’s so fun. I look toward to our beach trips so much. There’s something magical about early morning walks to find seashells, spending time with family, listening to the sounds of the ocean and watching the boys make sand castles, jump waves, stay up late and all around have the time of their lives.

4. A girl running on the beach this morning was wearing a shirt that said, ‘Strong is the new skinny.” I absolutely love that saying. I really do feel like fitness and wellness has found a new generation. Most women my age are less concerned with being waif thing and more concerned with being healthy, fit and strong.

5. Poor Case. He experienced a rite of childhood passage today. He and I went to the bathroom while eating out and when the bathroom door shut, he let out the most blood curdling scream I have ever heard. His finger had shut in the door. It took quite a while and a handful of M&Ms to calm him down, but eventually he stopped crying and before bed, he had completely stopped mentioning it. It was very stressful for him and me!

Not every grandma can get out with the boys and dig a trench in the 90 degree weather. Our MeMe rocks!

Case fell asleep in my lap today during dinner at a restaurant. I love to know that even though he’s growing up way too fast, he still does things like this. I’ll take it as long as I can.

My baby niece is so beautiful. Is she not? My sister sent me this picture today. I could just eat her up. We will see her in two days, and I CANNOT wait.

We went to Alligator Adventure tonight. Both boys thought it was incredible, and I think we adults did, too. In this picture, they are petting a baby alligator.

Oh I winced when I read about the finger in door, that just hurts! School starts for us this Thursday! I kind of want to cry about it. We finally made it to the beach for the first time last week. Hopefully we will make it one more time before it gets cooler, just have to go on a Saturday since school is essentially back in. Thanks so much for always linking up
