I’m really sad my first juice cleanse is over. When I was contacted by Moms Meet to do a review of the Skinny Limits juice cleanse, I thought, “Hey, why not? Getting healthier is my part of my 2014 plan, after all.” So I signed on for the review with zero expectations whatsoever. Boy, was I surprised. Not only did I experience significant physical changes, but the cleanse changed the way I think about food and what the human body realistically needs to sustain itself. It left me yearning for more of those feelings and further knowledge.
Skinny Limits operates out of Austin, TX, so I received my big, refrigerated box via next day delivery. On the box was a giant sticker that said, “Refrigerate upon arrival.” The pamphlet inside the box stated, “Since our juice is highly perishable, you must start your cleanse the day after you receive your juice at the latest.” All of this information made me happy because foods/juices that last a long time contain additives, preservatives, fillers, etc. Foods/juices that literally demand the consumer eat/drink immediately must be pretty darn fresh, and I’m all about fresh when considering what’s healthy for my body.
Inside my box were eighteen bottles of juice, six for each of the three days. These cold-pressed juices contain a variety of ingredients including kale, spinach, cucumbers, celery, apples, cashews, lemon juice, parsley, and more. I thought they may taste gross, but they were actually delicious.
Day 1:
I was getting over a stomach virus, so I felt very sluggish in the morning. I was determined to start the cleanse, however, since I only had three days before the juices went bad. Interestingly, as I started drinking the juices, my stomach started feeling better as opposed to worse. I also gained more energy. In the past, I had eaten crackers or plain pasta when battling a stomach virus, so I thought the acidity in the fruits and vegetables may bring on the evil virus, but it did not. I think the juices replenished all of the nutrients expelled when I was sick. The first day felt like a success.
Day 2:
I woke up pretty hungry and was worried the angry voice in my stomach was a sign of the long day to come. I was feeling much better from the virus and did not like that I was going to be drinking my way through the day with no solid food. I decided to stop thinking about that and just drink my first juice. It settled my stomach, and I felt fine. It seemed that each time I got the slightest bit hungry, it was time for the next juice. I felt great the entire day and had more energy than I’d had in a very long time even though the day before I’d been heaving over the toilet. Weird.
Confession: I did eat some plain celery stalks and carrot sticks; this is permitted but not best practice for a juice cleanse. I just really felt like munching on something. I have a chewing fixation and chew gum all the time. Since sugar-filled or aspartame-laden gum was obviously not on the “permitted” list, I chewed on some foods that were.
Day 3:
Again, I felt hungry when I awoke, but once I drank the first juice, I felt great. I felt wonderful the entire day and was full of energy. I even ran over two miles and barely got out of breath. At times I would wonder why I felt so great even though I hadn’t eaten, but I kept reminding myself that though I had not eaten, per se, I was drinking nutrient-packed and extraordinarily healthy foods. A few times I munched on some celery and carrots and one time even ate 1/4 cup of organic, raw almonds. Like I said, the Skinny Limits website states this won’t ruin the cleanse, but it’s not best practice.
Physical Results:
The most significant physical result was the amount of energy I had during the cleanse. I normally drink coffee all throughout the day to stay awake and maintain a certain energy level, but during the cleanse, I felt energetic, awake, and alert without all of that coffee.
I also lost eight pounds, and though I know some of this was water weight from all of the visitations to the bathroom, I feel like some of it was actual weight. For anyone trying to lose a little weight relatively quickly, a cleanse may be a good plan for you.
My exercise stamina was the same, if not higher. I thought that since I could not eat protein or carbohydrates, my energy and stamina would be diminished when exercising, but this also did not happen.
Mental Results:
This cleanse completely opened my eyes. I realized that we have been conditioned to believe we need tons of food to sustain ourselves, when in actuality, we do not need much at all, if we’re selecting the right foods in the first place.
The whole concept of eating protein and carbohydrates to fuel exercise may just be a myth. I’ve decided that anyway. Perhaps if I was running a marathon, I may need some of those food groups, but for daily workouts, I do not need to force myself to eat them.
I’m all about juicing now. Whether I order the Skinny Limits cleanse again or buy a juicer and make my own juices at home, I will be juicing again. For instance, during the summer months when garden vegetables are readily available and extremely fresh, I may drink a juice for breakfast and lunch and then a regular meal for dinner.
Conclusion:
By the third day, I’d gotten the hang of it and actually enjoyed it. It was kind of depressing when I opened the fridge and all of my juices were gone. Juicing is not something I had ever considered before, but now that I’ve experienced a cleanse, I’m hooked. Our bodies are amazing and are angered by all of the junk we put into them. If you’re ready to rid yourself of that junk or reprogram your body back to a healthier state, perhaps a juice cleanse is for you.

I have been wanting to try a cleanse for a while. I just tried clicking on the links in your post, but their site is down. I am wondering what the cost for these would be. I eat A LOT and I am a big snacker, so I am not sure if this would work for me or not. I have troubles going without real food.
I’m sorry! Check their site again in a bit. You should definitely check out juicing. Skinny Limits is great. They say even a one-day cleanse can help reprogram your body.
Juicing is so big right now. I like the idea of it all being shipped to me and ready to go. I haven’t tried much juicing myself yet, but it’s definitely intriguing… especially the extra energy part!
The site’s up now. And I’m intrigued!! I love that you had energy each day, I’m not adverse to giving this a try. I’m going to poke around the site too. Thank you for the review.
I did a detox a while ago, but I’d like to try juicing. I will look into this!
I’ve heard really good things about a lot of cleanses, but I just can’t do it! I need solid food or I get so cranky!
Not having heard a lot of juicing, you only get the juice during the day? Not sure I could manage that since I like my solid food. 🙂
I have been wanting to do this but need to wait till I’m done nursing! For now, I eat a ton and rely on caffeine way too much. I love my Breville juicer, though!
A lot of people are juicing these days. I did it for one day and had such a headache from not eating that I was scared to try again.
A blogger friend of mine has been juicing with Skinny Limits for the past week. All she does it rave about it. I heard they taste amazing and make you feel friend. I really want to order them myself.
Oh cool! This is the first juice cleanse I have done, and I loved the taste of the Skinny Limits juices.
I’ve never tried anything like this before, but I’m so curious about how these taste. Heading to their site now!
This would certainly be easier to keep up with than juicing! I’ve always considered doing a cleanse but haven’t made the jump yet!
I need to get back to juicing. I love the energy it gives me. I did a 3 day detox a few weeks ago. It was not enjoyable and I cheated but it still made me feel amazing. I think I am up for a juice cleanse.
Yes! I’m already ready for another one.
I’d love to try this cleanse! Sounds awesome! I am working on losing 100 pounds and this would probably help me change the way I think about food!
It definitely changes your mindset about food. You should try it!
No cleansing here for this nursing mom, but it’s definitely something I want to do when we’re done.
My brother was telling me about this really interesting book he read. A group of people were put in a bunker way under the ground and given no clocks and access to anything they might ever want to do. They found they ate WAY less and slept way less too. They didn’t feel the restrictions and needs we are used to feeling like needing to eat 3 big full meals a day.
I’m not sure I could stick to a cleanse, but maybe a one day cleanse would be beneficial for me? At least to kickstart things.
a girlfriend shared the not so nice side of juicing… she couldn’t leave the house for all the bathroom breaks -the #2 kind. She lost tons of weight during the cleanse and almost gave up for the way it “cleaned her out”!
I’m so happy you finally did one! I love them!
Me too! We should do our next one together.
I wish I could do something like that, but I love to crunch and bite. I know I couldn’t handle it. 🙁
WOW! This is so interesting! I would love to try something like this.
Cleanses are rough. I love smoothies though to help with healthy eating.
I’m dying to get my hands on a 3 day cleanse! Great review!
That’s great that it gave you more energy! I find that many cleanses actually make me feel sluggish so I love that Skinny Limits juice cleanse did NOT make you feel that way. Will have to check it out!
i’ve been thinking doing something like this would be a great way to kickstart some weighloss. I’m glad to hear it tasted great, that’s my biggest fear
Wow, glad it was such a positive experience for you! I’ve never done a cleanse, but I’m always interested to see how they affect people. I’m wondering if you craved any particular foods? Did eating a full day of chew-able food feel weird at first?
Juice cleanses sound so interesting to me. I don’t think I’d have the willpower, honestly.
I’d love to try a juice cleanse for a few days. People always have such great results, as you did. Thanks for sharing your experiences!
Our bodies really do need a cleanse every now and then. I’m amazed about the increased energy you noticed. I need some of that
I think a good cleanse every now and again is a great thing to do for your body. Sometimes we just need to get rid of all the negativity we pour into with highly processed foods. I like the idea of juicing because it offers on the go convenience. My biggest problem is forgetting to eat!
I’ve heard a lot about juicing lately. I don’t think I could handle eating nothing all day but I’m not a breakfast person and starting to wonder if this would be good for me for breakfast.
This sounds great!!! However, it’s so pricey. 🙁
