Common belief is that only moms of babies need a multi-purpose, multi-pocketed bag. In fact, that belief is so steadfast that these types bags are even called “diaper bags”. And I agree that when my boys were tiny, I carried around way too much stuff, but that’s mostly because I was clueless and thought I needed my entire house every time the baby and I made an outing.
Now that the boys are 3 and 6, I’m realizing I still love these types of bags. In fact, in retrospect, during the early days when I was nursing, all I really needed for the baby was a few diapers, wipes, an extra onesie and perhaps a blanket. These days, I pack snacks, three water bottles, extra clothes in case they get dirty, a book or magazine for me, etc.
When I was at the Type-A blogging conference, I met the owner of Baby K’tan and we instantly hit it off. We chatted for quite some time about the products they offer. They are very well-known for their baby slings/wraps, but as the mom of older children, I was more curious about their Smart Gear bags. A couple of weeks after the conference, I received a Baby K’tan bag in the mail.
I am loving this bag. First of all, it has 12 pockets! If you’re a fellow parent, I’m sure you understand how exciting that is. With this many pockets, I can ensure that my book won’t have fruit snacks stuck onto the pages or that my Kindle won’t get ruined from a water bottle that wasn’t tightened properly.
I’ve used my bag a number of times, including carrying it to our town’s Christmas parade the other night. I had to park and walk with both boys by myself because my husband was meeting us there after work. I stuffed blankets, snacks, mittens, hats, an umbrella, bags to catch thrown candy, three water bottles and other items in the bag, slung it across my shoulder, held both boys’ hands and off I went.
Along with the numerous pockets, the Baby K’tan bags have a number of other features, including a built-in wetbag and an antibacterial pocket. The wetbag could be used for a wet onesie, used burp cloth, swim suits, etc. The antibacterial pocket will protect pacifiers and other items from germs.
With Christmas right around the corner, you should check out Baby K’tan. If you are pregnant, explore their various slings and wraps. A sling or a wrap is an absolute must when you have a new baby. I could not have survived without mine.
And if you’re looking for a gift for any mom, look at Baby K’tan’s Smart Gear bags. They are lightweight, machine washable, versatile and easy-to-carry. And while recently I’ve used my bag for general outings, I’m also excited about using it next summer and when I go the gym. The wetbag is perfect for sweaty clothes or a swim suit and the antibacterial pocket will be nice for spoons or apples or anything I need to stay remotely germ-free.
You can purchase these items on the Baby K’tan website, Amazon, Target, Babies-R-Us, Buy Buy Baby, Diapers.com and Right Start.
I’ve learned many lessons since becoming a mom and one of those is that a great bag is an absolute must. Hope you enjoy the Baby K’tan products as much as I do. Happy parenting!
